Brightwell Aquatics KoraLagoon Substrāt is a carefully engineered blend of aragonite substrate designed to recreate the natural particle profile of tropical reef lagoons. Containing multiple aragonite grades, this substrate promotes the development of natural biochemical zones within the sand bed, allowing for ongoing release of essential ions such as calcium, carbonate, magnesium, strontium, potassium, and trace elements.
Inspired by the lagoon zones of atolls and barrier reefs, where fine sediments accumulate and organic matter is remineralized, KoraLagoon Substrāt supports the filtration and nutrient uptake processes that occur in natural reef environments. This makes it especially useful in refugia, macroalgae and seagrass beds, mangrove displays, and sand-based filtration zones in reef aquariums.
By encouraging the development of detritivore communities and sediment-based biochemical activity, KoraLagoon Substrāt helps improve water clarity, supports coral growth, and promotes a balanced nutrient environment. The blend is also ideal for use in nano-reef systems or sump-based nutrient export setups. The substrate’s buffering ability contributes to pH stability, providing a natural base for long-term aquarium health.
