The Colombian Shark (Ariopsis seemanni), often referred to as the Black Fin Shark or Tete Sea Catfish, is a captivating catfish species native to the Pacific coast of Central and South America. These fish start their lives in freshwater but must transition to brackish and, eventually, full marine water as they mature. Their name comes from their distinct shark-like appearance, which, combined with their active swimming, makes them a popular and dramatic addition to larger aquariums. As a predatory species, they should be kept with other fish that are too large to be considered prey.

Special Care Instructions: Providing the correct salinity gradient is crucial for their health; they cannot survive long-term in pure freshwater. Regular water changes and a strong filter are essential to maintain the high-quality water conditions they require. They are active swimmers and need plenty of open space, so a minimum 75-gallon tank is recommended for a single juvenile, with significant upgrades needed as they grow.
